UBC’s new Centre for Asian Canadian Research and Engagement (ACRE) is working to centre the voices, experiences, and expertise of Asian Canadian communities, within the university and beyond.ACRE’s approach to research, teaching, and engagement is deeply rooted in community engagement and is built on long-standing partnerships with cultural, civic, and non-profit organizations throughout Metro Vancouver. By working together, they aim to build a more socially just future where Asian Canadians of all backgrounds can thrive.

Faculty members at UBC Vancouver are invited to submit a proposal to work with the Emerging Media Lab team to explore how to incorporate technologies (such as virtual reality, augmented reality, artificial intelligence, and machine learning, etc.) into teaching, learning or research projects.UBC’s Emerging Media Lab is an experimental lab space where faculty, staff, and students from all disciplines collaborate to evolve learning by creating tools and techniques using emerging media technologies.The deadline for submitting project proposals is March 15.

Twenty-five Research Excellence Clusters led by researchers at UBC Vancouver have received grant funding through the 2024/25 Grants for Catalyzing Research Clusters Competition (GCRC). A further 14 clusters are being supported in the second year of their existing grant.

New training developed by UBC Library is helping to address the growing demand from all disciplines to learn more about incorporating Indigenous topics in coursework and research.Traditionally, the X̱wi7x̱wa Library (which is the only Indigenous branch of an academic library in Canada) dealt with all Indigenous-related topics and requests.
