New funding rounds for major federal programs

New funding rounds were announced earlier this week for two major federal research programs: the Canada First Research Excellence Fund (CFREF) and the Canada Excellence Research Chairs (CERC).

Paid leave for staff between Boxing Day and New Year’s Day

With the holiday season approaching, please note that certain UBC staff are eligible for paid leave during the university’s seasonal closure – the three normal working days between Boxing Day and New Year’s Day. This year’s seasonal closure falls on December 29, 30, and 31, 2021.

Submit a proposal to hire temporary student employees through the Work Study program

The Work Study program offers $400,000 in minimum wage subsidies, to help faculty and staff create outstanding student employment opportunities at UBC Okanagan. Funding is awarded to eligible employers via a competitive application and adjudication process. If you have a work opportunity to help students develop their professional skills and contribute to a work environment, submit a proposal to the Work Study program by January 17, 2022.
